Approved building permits in second quarter 2019 totaled to 3,489. The overall fisheries production in Ilocos Regionwent upby 3.72percent in 2ndquarter 2019. From the total output of36,804metric tons in 2ndquarter 2018, it increased to 38,173 metric tons this year. Palay production in 2ndquarter 2019 was posted at 158,805 metric tons, lower than the estimate in 2ndquarter 2018of 160,879 metric tons. There were lesser area planted as some areas in Pangasinan, particularly the Municipalities of Sto. Tomas and Rosales, were affected by the repair of irrigation systems. Thus, the harvest area decreased from 33,696 hectares to 33,228 hectares. Total production of hog in the first half of the year 2019in Ilocos Region was 49,714 metric tons liveweight. This was 4.29 percent higher compared with its level in the same period of 2018. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Ilocos Region in August 2019 (2012-based) was recorded at 119.3. This figure is 2.1 percentage points higher than the August 2018’s figure of 117.2. In the previous month, the region’s CPI was pegged at 119.0. The top three commodity groups that recorded high price indices were: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (186.2); food and non-alcoholic beverages (126.3); and furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (123.5). On the other hand, the bottom three commodity groups with lowest price indices were: transport (101.1); communication (101.6); and education (109.8).Read more about Ilocos Region’s CPI reaches 119.3 in August 2019

In first semester of 2018, a family of five needed no less than PhP 7,512, on the average, to meet the family’s basic food needs for a month in Ilocos Region. This amount is the food threshold. On the other hand, no less than PhP 10,684, on the average, was needed to meet both basic food and non-food needs of a family of five in a month in the region. This amount is the poverty threshold. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) conducts the second level training on systems for the generation of Consumer Price Index (CPI) on September 17 to 19, 2019 at Marand Resort and Spa, Baccuit Sur, Bauang, La Union.
