There were 26,055 marriages registered in 2018, a decrease of 1.4 percent from the previous year’s figure of 26,415 marriages.Two provinces recorded an increase in the number of registered marriages from 2017 to 2018. Approved building permits in four quarter 2018 totaled to 2,529. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Region I for December 2018 (2012 based) was recorded at 118.2. This figure is 7.7 percentage points lower than the December 2017’s figure of 110.5. In the previous month, the region’s CPI was pegged at 119.3. The top three commodity groups that recorded high price indices were: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (181.3); food and non-alcoholic beverages (127.5); and furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (122.3).Read more about Ilocos Region’s CPI posted at 118.2 in December 2018

Palay production in 4th quarter 2018 was posted at 1,077,471 metric tons lower than the estimate in 4th quarter 2017 of 1,209,896 metric tons. The results of the April 2018 Labor Force Survey (LFS) showed an employment rate of 92.7 percent for Ilocos Region. This was 3.1 percentage points higher than the employment rate recorded in April 2017 at 89.6 percent. Compared with the 94.5 percent national figure, Ilocos Region’s employment rate was lower by 1.8 percentage points.
