The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office successfully conducted the Presentation of Preliminary Reports for the 2024 Population Census and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) on 10 July 2025 at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall of the Local Government Unit of Larena.
The activity was graced by Municipal Mayor of the Municipality of Larena, Hon. Cyrus Vincent M. Calibo and Vice Mayor Jan Dean O. Villa, along with department heads and representatives from various offices of the municipality. Their attendance demonstrated the local government's strong support for initiatives that promote data-informed development planning and policy-making.
The presentation focused on the initial demographic, economic, and social data gathered from households across the municipality. Highlights included updates on population size and structure, employment and income levels, access to basic services, education, housing conditions, and health-related indicators. These initial findings serve as critical tools for the LGU, enabling more-timely, evidence-based decision-making and effective local planning.
The activity also included an open forum where department heads could ask questions, share feedback, and suggest areas for data checking. This helped improve data accuracy and encouraged teamwork among offices in using statistics for local development.
The successful conduct of the preliminary report presentation signifies a milestone in Larena’s journey toward more inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance through the power of statistics.
