
National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD delivers his message to the Statistical Researchers of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Negros Occidental conducts the Third Level Training on the July 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey Visit 1 (LFS-FIES V1) from July 1 to 7, 2025.
A highlight of the training was the visit of the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General (NSCRG) Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, emphasizing the importance of this undertaking not just to the PSA, but to the City of Bacolod, Province of Negros Occidental, and the newly established Negros Island Region. He also highlighted the crucial role of the data in guiding policymakers, especially newly elected officials, in designing effective interventions and policies to improve the well-being of the people.
The Statistical Researchers (SRs) were encouraged to understand the end goal of this undertaking and to uphold a noble objective of helping the citizens of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
Usec Mapa commended the PSA trainers for their dedication and expertise in delivering the training, specifically recognizing the efforts of OIC–Chief Statistical Specialist Maria Teresa V. Olivares and Senior Statistical Specialist Sol M. Lazo from the Central Office. The training is conducted by Provincial Focal Person (PFP) Statistical Analyst Resty John M. Bancruz, Assistant Provincial Focal Person (APFP) Assistant Statistician April Rhea Ponsica, along with the statistical personnel of PSA–Negros Occidental.

The LFS aims to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population which will be used by the government planners, policymakers, and administrators in formulating social and economic development plans, policies, and programs. While the FIES aims to gather data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure and related information affecting family income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines.
This training is designed to equip Team Supervisors and Statistical Researchers with the knowledge and skills needed for their roles as primary data collectors for the LFS-FIES Visit 1 operations which will start on July 8 to 31, 2025 nationwide.
