
Proving their dedication and adaptability, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully presented the Preliminary Results of the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the Municipality of San Juan on July 21, 2025 at the conference room of the town’s newly inaugurated municipal building.

The activity gathered local officials headed by the newly elected municipal mayor of San Juan, Hon. Rubilyn M. Ragay, along with the department heads and staff, aiming to provide them with the key statistical findings that will serve as a basis in formulating an evidence-based policies and programs for the needs of the municipality.
During the session, the Siquijor PSO personnel presented indicators covering household poverty levels, health, education, housing, and access to basic utilities. These data sets, gathered through the POPCEN-CBMS operations.

A brownout occurred midway through the event, making it more challenging as the team could no longer use the large screen for the presentation. Despite the challenge, PSA team and the LGU staff quickly shifted to manual backup systems and battery-powered equipment to continue the presentation. The cooperation and quick response of both the PSA and LGU teams ensured that the session proceeded smoothly, reflecting a shared commitment to service despite unforeseen circumstances.

Hon. Ragay expressed gratitude to PSA Siquijor bringing relevant and timely data to lead the local development planning. An open forum followed the session, where participants shared their insights and suggestions for a further refined data.
The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS preliminary results presentation in San Juan is part of a province-wide rollout of data-sharing efforts by PSA Siquijor, ensuring that every municipality will benefit from a localized and reliable statistics.
