Call for Papers

I. OVERVIEW

The student paper session entitled “Student Research: Bridging Theory and Practice: Showcasing Student Contribution in Statistics” is one of the featured events of the 2025 Regional Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Convention and Data Festival (Data Fest), providing a platform for students to present original research aligned with the event's theme, “Ready, Stat, Go! Building Agile, Resilient, and Future-Ready Filipino Communities through Data-Driven Systems”.

The session objectives are as follows:

  1. To showcase student research in statistics and related disciplines, highlighting practical applications of statistical theory to real-world data challenges in local development planning.
  2. To highlight how students apply statistical theories and methodologies to address real-world problems and societal

    issues.

  3. To facilitate knowledge exchange between students, faculty members, government and industry professionals, and researchers. 
  4. To inspire students to pursue careers in statistics, data science, and allied disciplines by demonstrating the real-world impact and societal value of statistical research.  

II. QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Open to currently enrolled undergraduate students in the recognized higher education institution in Negros Island Region. Individual or group submissions are allowed, with a maximum of three members per group.
  2. Papers must be original and unpublished. If previously presented, substantial revisions must be clearly documented upon submission.
  3. Submitted papers must be relevant to the theme, “Ready, Stat, Go! Building Agile, Resilient, and Future-Ready Filipino Communities through Data-Driven Systems.” 4. All submissions must uphold ethical research practices, including proper citation, data privacy, and appropriate 

III. SUBMISSION PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Submission Process All required documents must be submitted electronically through the official Google Form: https://l1nk.dev/Mb4uO

3.2 Submission Requirements

  1. Accomplished submission form.
  2. Abstract (maximum of 250 words, A4 size, Arial 12 pt, single-spaced, one-inch margins, with up to 5 keywords. For papers written in languages other than English, kindly provide an English version for reference.)
  3. Full Paper (maximum of 5,000 words, A4 size, Arial 12 pt, single-spaced, APA format. For papers written in languages other than English, kindly provide an English version for reference.)

I. Title Page (including title, author/s, and adviser/s)

II. Abstract

III. Introduction 

IV. Objectives of the Study

V. Review of Related Literature

VII. Results and Discussion

VIII. Conclusion and Recommendations

IX. References X. Appendices (if applicable)

4. Endorsement letter from the head of the unit/college/department. 

3.3. Others

  1. File Naming Convention All submitted files must follow the format: LastName_FirstName_School_PaperTitle.pdf 
  2. Deadline for Submission: 15 August 2025, 11:59 PM.

IV. SELECTION PROCESS

Papers will be evaluated using the following criteria: 

2. A maximum of six student papers will be selected for presentation during the Student Paper Session on 18 September 2025 . The top three student papers will serve as the official finalists, while the remaining three papers will be designated as alternates.

3. In case of a tie, the Program Committee shall convene todeliberate and finalize the top six papers.

4. Selected students will be notified at least two weeks beforethe event and will be given sufficient time to prepare theirpresentation decks, based on the guidelines that will beprovided upon confirmation of their participation.

V. Presentation Guidelines

  1. Each presentation shall have a 10-minute time limit, followedby a 5-minute Q&A session.
  2. Presenters must use the official template to be provided bythe Program Committee.

VI. Recognition and Post-event Documentation

  1. All student presenters will receive tokens and certificates ofappreciation during the event.
  2. Selected papers may be featured in a post-event digitalcompendium, subject to author consent.
