The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ventures on another important statistical undertakings as part of its continuous efforts towards the improvement of its agricultural and fisheries surveys and statistics it derives. The 2025 Updating of List of Agricultural Farm Operators and Inland Fishing Households and 2025 Listing of Marine Fish Landing Centers (ULAFO-LMFLC) are on its way on August 2025 that aims to collect data and information on all agricultural activities, inland fishing, and landing centers in the whole country. The information will be used for the continuous development of sampling frame for quarterly agricultural and fisheries surveys.


The 2025 ULAFO-LMFLC is part of the continuous effort of the PSA towards improving the quality of its agricultural and fisheries surveys and that is, sampling frame updating is necessary. This is to keep up with the fast-changing agriculture and fisheries sector prior to the implementation and redesigning of agriculture and fisheries surveys.


The 2025 ULAFO-LMFLC aims to determine the number of agricultural operators, determine the type of agricultural activity operated such as growing of crops and raising of livestock and/or poultry, thus, obtain comprehensive data on the characteristics of agricultural farms such as main purpose of operation, number of parcels, location of the parcel, physical area of the parcel, and main use of the parcel. It also gathers information on the kinds of temporary and permanent crops planted and number and type of livestock/poultry raised. Further, it determines the number of household members engaged in inland fishing and the number of inland fishing households. Aside from those, this also gathers information on fish landing centers and are as follows: category of marine fish landing center, type of marine fish landing center, peak and lean unloading months, and average volume of unloaded fish during peak and lean months.


With this, a series of trainings will be conducted and part of it is the field practice to equipped field personnel for the 2025 ULAFO-LMFLC. Its Second Level Training was attended by the undersigned together with PSO Clerk Juana Rose K. Baluarte in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on July 21-25, 2025. The five-day training was facilitated by Central Office personnel and Regional Focal Persons with attendance and participation from the Provincial and Alternate Focal Persons and its PSO Clerks of the three (3) provinces of the Negros Island Region, namely: Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor. Provincial Training for the province of Siquijor is scheduled in the first week of August 2025.
The authority in the conduct of the 2025 ULAFO-LMFLC emanates from the Republic Act No. 10625, otherwise known as the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013”, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct periodic censuses on various sectors of economy.
